2026/HHCKLA Buddhist Ching Kok Secondary School Buddha Bathing Ceremony 2026

On May 21 (Thursday), our school solemnly held the Bathing the Buddha Celebration in the school hall. With the participation of all teachers and students, parents, and many members of the School Board, the ceremony was conducted in a dignified and harmonious manner, filled with Dharma joy.

Bathing the Buddha is a ritual held each year to celebrate the Buddha’s Birthday. When the Buddha was born, He immediately took seven steps upon the ground. With one hand pointing to the sky and the other pointing to the earth, He proclaimed, “Above the heavens and below the heavens, I alone am the Honored One.” At that moment, two dragons flew down from the sky—one spouting warm water and the other cool water—to bathe Him. Countless heavenly kings, Brahma gods, and celestial beings appeared in the air to praise the Buddha’s birth.

With utmost sincerity and reverence in bathing the Buddha, we cleanse our hearts and minds. As we contemplate the blessings of the World-Honored One, we wash away the dust and afflictions within, reminding ourselves to always maintain a pure and wholesome mind. We vow to realize the pure Dharma-body of the Tathāgata, to help all sentient beings resolve their suffering and attain happiness, and to pray for the enduring presence of the True Dharma in the world.
